Kathmandu valley is one of the best hiking destinations. Hiking around the hills of Kathmandu valley, it offers you the opportunity to explore Nepalese lifestyle, culture and its natural beauty from the hilltops which surround this bowl-shaped city.
This 6-day hiking trip starts from the diverse city of Kathmandu, goes through Chisapani through Shivapuri National park, reaches one of the best hill stations- Nagarkot and further heads towards one of the oldest temple enlisted in UNESCO world heritage list, Changunarayan.
Usually day trips, these hikes can be the best option to enjoy Nepal’s natural beauty, especially if you do not have enough time to spend ample time in the Himalayas. The trips involve 4-6 hours of walk in one of the lush green hills of Kathmandu. Starting from about 1350 meters from sea level you can go as high as 2750 m in 4 hours and enjoy the panoramic view of the valley and beyond, including high mountains such as Mount Everest. - Day 1 KATHMANDU ARRIVAL
At the arrival section of Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, one of our representatives will be waiting to welcome you. The airport representative will explain the program upon arrival and escort you to the hotel on a private vehicle.
Overnight in Kathmandu;
- Day 2 KATHMANDU SIGHTSEEING
After breakfast, Kathmandu tour begins. The capital of the country and home to 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Kathmandu, is an incredibly diverse city donning centuries-old monuments, breathtaking Newari culture and plethora of Hindu and Buddhist monuments. Throughout the day, we will observe most of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu.
Overnight stay at the hotel;
- Day 3 CHISAPANI [2300 M]
We move from Kathmandu to Sundarijal via private vehicle in the one-hour trip. We’ll start our 4-5-hours trek upon arrival in Chisapani through the Shivapuri National Park. We get to observe a panoramic view of the mountains as well as pine forests on the way. Trudging through the popular route we come across a traditional Tamang village.
Overnight at Chisapani;
- Day 4 NAGARKOT [2100M]
Early in the morning, we hike to the tower of Nagarkot to catch the splendid sunrise over the mountains and hills. We can also spot Mt.Everest from here on a clear weather. After visiting Nagarkot, we rest in the remaining time. In the meantime, you can stroll around Nagarkot.

- Day 5 CHANGUNARAYAN AND KATHMANDU
On our last day, we hike for about 3.5 hours. The route takes us down from Nagarkot and towards the famous historic temple Changu Narayan from where beautiful views of Sankhu village and Bhaktapur can be observed. Changunarayan is one of the oldest temples in Kathmandu built by Hari Dutta Malla in 323AD. We’ll also visit the museum near the temple. Touring around Changunarayan for some time we then return back to Kathmandu on a private vehicle.

- Day 6 DEPARTURE
Depending on the flight time, Swotah will arrange the transfer to the airport. The airport check-in is 3 hours prior to the departure time.
